Radial: Valentine's Day [Take Two]
A downloadable book
This time, Alex means to do it properly.
Last year's Valentine's Day was derailed, but this time Alex has a foolproof plan: threaten the local Skilled into compliance, then take his ever-oblivious dark elf colleague — and lover — Milos home, cook a nice meal, and then spend hours having his wicked way with him.
Such a shame that fate has other plans: now he has to figure out how to prevent a honey-tongue from wreaking havoc among happy Valentiners, and get them delivered to the office, paperwork done, and then home in time for his perfect evening. But the informant isn't being particularly informative and the culprit won't stay still long enough for Alex to apprehend them.
At least it should all be straightforward once he catches them... right?
He's going to get Milos home in time for that perfect evening... right?

“You’re afraid of Crow.”
“No, I’m not.” But from the corner of his eye Alex saw his grip tightening, his thumb digging into his fingers, and that was without the way his breath hitched. He really was transparent. “He’s shorter than me,” Milos added, an edge creeping into his voice that sounded a lot like defensiveness, “so why would I be? I just don’t like...”
“His unique method of introduction? No, most people don’t, but he’s never taken the hint.”
“He’s really never done it to you?”
Just what did Milos take him for? Alex snorted, turning the car to park in most of the last available spot beside the pavement, almost bonnet to bumper with the one in front. “He wouldn’t dare, or he’ll be spending the rest of his life in your old cell.”
It was Milos’s turn to huff out a startled laugh. “Can you?”
“Not officially. I’ll just have to lose the paperwork.”
Milos laughed again, slowly uncurling his fingers from the upper grip, and something eased in Alex’s chest. He ignored it. That’d been happening more often lately, and he had absolutely no intention of examining it. He drummed his fingers on the steering wheel a moment, then popped his seat belt. “Come on. Let’s get this over with before it rains.” And the sooner they were done, the sooner Alex could drag Milos home again.
As if on cue, a rumble emerged from the vicinity of Milos’s stomach, not quite hidden by his abrupt slamming of the car door; Alex resisted the urge to grin, although he wasn’t sure how. A hungry Milos should be one who would definitely appreciate tonight’s dinner.
“So...” Milos said, carefully not meeting Alex’s gaze.
He jerked his head in the direction of the street, at the brightly lit windows filled with irritating people already starting their irritatingly perfect evenings. Who in their right mind had their meal this early? Someone who hadn’t planned ahead... not that planning ahead helped. His ruined evening was proof of that. “Come on. He’s up here.”
